ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
Qualifications: Candidates must have:
- Experience working with computerized A/R, A/P, and G/L systems, and knowledge of spreadsheets.
- General familiarity with loans receivable, principal amortization methods, and accrued interest.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, as well as outside vendors, customers, etc.
Job Decription: Responsibilities include:
- Accounts Payable; data entry, check printing, and annual 1099 reporting.
- Accounts Receivable; processing daily cash receipts, bank deposits, data entry, loan set-ups, maintaining monthly cash receipts journal, and processing monthly bills and month end closing.
- Payroll; posting weekly payroll into general ledger system.
- Bank Accounts; monthly bank reconciliations.
- General Ledger; posting monthly journal entries to computerized General Ledger system, maintaining and posting standard ‘recurring” journal entries, maintaining manual G/L account schedules, reconciling variances between general ledger schedules and computerized trial balance.
- Loan Administration; the day-to-day accounting department administration of several loan funds including frequent interaction with loan officers concerning balances, status, and the calculation of pay-off figures when applicable.
- Annual Audits; assisting and preparation for, annual audits.
- Special Projects; assisting Treasurer with special projects.
- Safekeeping Vault; delivery and/or retrieval of documents in safekeeping vault.
- Records; orderly and accurate filing of all accounting department records.
- Phone; phone coverage when necessary
